Dr. Steven T. Plomaritis
Dr. Steven T. Plomaritis is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship subspecialty training in sports medicine, shoulder & knee reconstruction.
He obtained his undergraduate degree in Biology from Colby College and his medical degree from Kirksville College Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic Surgical training in 1987. He then pursued fellowship training in shoulder and knee reconstruction at the Detroit Medical Center in 1988. After completing formal training, Dr. Plomaritis entered private practice including an associate professor faculty position at Wayne State University within The Orthopaedic Department.
He has served as the orthopaedic surgeon for all varsity athletics at Wayne State University as well as the Detroit Red Wings (NHL), Pistons (NBA), and Plymouth Whalers (OHL).
He currently serves as a consultant for the Carolina Hurricanes, the Ontario Hockey League, and the United States Strongman Competitors and has served for the NCAA, MMA, and US Figure Staking Association as a consultant.
He has publications and educational presentations on a national level discussing advanced techniques on rotator cuff surgery, alternative operative treatments for clavicular fractures, realignment procedures for the lower extremity, and managing patellofemoral dysfunction and instability.
